Dimming effect when turning light on/off

Hi all,

I recently bought a new MiBoxer FUT103 light to replace an older MiLight one from a few years ago which died recently.

I noticed that the new one has a slow dimming effect by default when turning the light on or off, which the old model didn’t have. It hence now looks a little odd when I turn the lights on or off as my other older MiBoxer FUT103 lights do not have this slow dimming on/off effect. I can’t seem to find a way to modify or disable the effect in any of the settings using the app or FUT089 remote.

Does anyone know if the effect can be enabled in older MiBoxer bulbs or disabled in the newer ones? I just wish to have consistency in the way the lights turn on/off (either with the slow dimming effect or simply without).

Thanks!

Hello Johnny,

Yes, our new model of lamp has been updated with a new program.

When turned on, the lamp will gradually illuminate, providing a more comfortable lighting experience. The update was implemented based on customer feedback indicating that the previous version lit up immediately upon activation, which could potentially harm to the eyes.

Additionally, these programs are fixed and cannot be changed unless a custom program is requested.

Thank you!

Hi Elle,

Thank you for for your reply.

My living room has a dozen lights and the new bulb is the only one with the new fade in/out effect. This makes it look very odd when the lights are turned on/off.

I think it is great that MiBoxer introduces new features but this should not create a conflict or look strange when combined with the previous versions (which are less than 2 years old!). Light bulb specifications from other brands are consistent for decades, this is important for continuity and customer loyalty.

Perhaps a separate model variant should have been created with the fade effect, or simply allow users to enable/disable the feature in software.

I’m obviously not going to buy a dozen new lights to solve this problem, even though this is what MiBoxer may actually be pushing customers to do by introducing “new features”.

You mentioned a custom program can be created, can you please provide more information on how this can be done?

Thanks.

Hello Johnny,

I understand your point. I’m very sorry to have caused you trouble.

I will report your suggestion to our company.

Future versions will all use a fade-in/fade-out effect and will not be changed.

If you prefer this effect, our engineers can re-edit the program. Custom programs require an order quantity of at least 1000 pieces.

Modifications to custom programs can only be made by our engineers.

Hi Elle,

Thank you, it is unfortunate indeed that customers can’t change the fade in/out effect currently. I do hope this can be implemented in the future.

I personally much prefer the lights to turn on instantly and find the new fade effect quite slow. It is frustrating to not be able to change this. I wish I could still buy the older version of the bulb actually.

Thank you for considering my feedback.

Hello Johnny,

Sorry, the old version of the bulbs are sold out. Only the new version is available.

I am sorry that we can’t meet your needs. Since each customer’s needs are different, most customers still choose the fade-in and fade-out effect.

Thank you for your support. Have a nice day~

Hello Elle.
Can you tell us when the new version got on sale? If it wasn’t too long ago, he might still be able to get the old model somewhere.
Is it possible to identify the lamp itself it it’s the old or the new version? A printed version or something?

Johnny, perhaps you could equip a group of new lamps, and then dimming them up would create an effect, for example, above a table or in a display case. Then you’d have a few older replacement lamps.
Of course, if all the lamps are in the ceiling, that’s going to be difficult.

Hello Mike,

V2.0 and over V2.0 series lamps have a fade-in and fade-out effect.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your suggestions. I have looked everywhere for the older MiLight bulbs (without the fade effects) to no avail unfortunately.

I am reluctant to buy any more of the new bulbs at this stage since the fade in/out effects cannot be disabled.

I am currently looking at alternatives brands.

Thanks.
